Community Engagement Report
(Note: Chapters 15 & 16 on Middle Adulthood, you will refer to these in your assignment)
Students will participate in a campus or community event and write a reflection about the meaning of the event for development.
EVENT: . a quinciñera celebration
Your reflection will focus on the ways in which the event could support an individual’s development.
For this reflection, it will be important to attend something currently, live or virtual.
Clearly describe the event, it’s context, participants and duration and your role as an event participant.
What are the meanings of the event for the participants, including yourself? Does it
have different meanings for different participants?
What is the history of the event? How has it changed over time? What are its cultural roots? Research the history and culture of your chosen event (or similar event) and find out about the meanings!
What are the benefits to individuals, in terms of their developmental tasks when people come together? Which of these benefits are overtly acknowledged and which are subtle?
How does its meaning relate to domains, stages and theories of lifespan development? Refer to sections of the textbook here!
Each report should be at least 500 words in length

Connects meaning of event to domains, stages & theories of lifespan development
Writing (5 points)
Clearly focused & logically consistent
Uses headings & paragraphs effectively
Ideas from text & other sources cited appropriately
Shows clarity of spelling, punctuation and grammar
Is at least 500 words in length & posted on time
