A late-season hurricane blows off a flock of migrating birds course. The group finally settles on a new island that is far off course and not within their usual migration. The island is large and has multiple biomes (forest with many green trees, flowers, and foliage, mountains with high, snowy peaks, low-lying valleys with wild grasses and shrubs, and a dry region with cacti and other species). The birds are small, brown, and gray feathered, have medium-sized beaks, and are accustomed to eating various foods – from insects to seeds. However, there is some variation within the population from one bird to another.
Consider that the entire flock is disoriented and decides to make this new island their permanent home.
How do you think the birds will look in 5 years?
