Assignment task: What do I need to do?
Use the design thinking framework to work through your career challenge or career idea (you can also use graphics and diagrams as part of the reflection).
In your response you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the design thinking principles by linking the concepts to your career challenge /career idea:
Provide context to a career challenge/idea (introduction)
Self-awareness (empathy):
Write a self-awareness reflection based on your findings from the self-assessments. Provide examples of how you have demonstrated your skills, character strengths, values, activities that energize/engage you. See the guiding questions in the link provided on the self-assessments.
Understanding your motivation and define your career challenge /career idea (define):
Create an empathy map based on your career challenge /career idea and discuss some of the findings.
Discuss your motivations and if there are any assumptions you discovered that you held.
Provide one clear and actionable career challenge /career idea you will explore in a form of a specific open-ended question.
Brainstorm solutions (ideate):
Brainstorm ideas based on your clear and actionable career challenge /career idea using a mind map (you may need to conduct some research to help you)
Provide some commentary on your themes and findings.
Plan
Looking at your mindmap, suggest at least:
1 specific short-term actionable goal (can be attained by the end of semester) that will help you work on this career challenge /career idea.
2 corresponding learning tasks to fulfill this goal (to be completed over the semester) – what prototype activities and/or learning activities will you undertake? Think about any actions that will help you learn to develop skills, accumulate knowledge and develop experiences.
** ONE of these strategies must include identifying who you would like to conduct an career informational interview to help you work towards your career challenge/career idea. Over the semester you will need to conduct this career informational interview and ONE other task in order to evaluate and reflect on your findings for Assignment 3. Here are some suggestions and resources to help you with choosing a strategy.
