I want to assert that Bronte shows the weaponisation of patriarchal power structures of Victorian England and how effectively they oppress women. The reason I chose feminist jurisprudence was to highlight the gender biases and patriarchal values that influenced legal issues in the Victorian era. Sourcebook on Feminist Jurisprudence by Hilaire Barnett is a very good source. Also, you can refer to Bartlett’s methods: legal reasoning, asking the woman question and consciousness raising. Every paragraph in a sense should refer to the weaponisation of power structures. I want a pure analysis of the book (with direct quotes and scenes) link them directly to the theory and find a way that works. Try to think questions such as what can feminist jurisprudence tell us abou t legal and social rebellion within the book? What are the key things that is known about patriarchy and gender oppression in Victorian England from those novels?
