Question #1
Based on the textbook, re-organize the
following content into effective paragraphs. You

sentences and paragraph coherence. However, the focus should be on organizing,
not re-writing, the content.
Long days, warm nights, and salty air.
There is no place I’d rather be than in Nova Scotia during the summer. My
passion for this season began when I was a child. Internet didn’t exist at the
time, so I spent almost all day outside with my friends. We swam in the ocean, walked
in the park, and played hide-and-seek at night. With no way for our parents to
reach us, we’d often stay out past our bedtime under the glow of the starry
sky. Summer officially began the day school ended, which was one of the most exciting
days of the year. As soon as we got our report cards, we’d run outside – full
of freedom and excitement at the possibilities of the next two months. Our
tradition was to get an extra-large ice cream cone and have a pool party at Jake’s
house. Canada Day was the next important milestone in my romance with summer. My
parents didn’t work that day and, after 10 days with my friends, it was a
much-needed break. Everyone in my neighbourhood would decorate their homes with
Canadian flags and red-and-white balloons and we’d hold a community BBQ with
hot dogs and cake! While everyone was busy having fun, I was eagerly counting
down the moments until the sky lit up with the most majestic fireworks in the
county. Sometimes the fireworks would be delayed and my younger sister would
fall asleep, allowing me a few precious moments alone with my parents. Many
summer lovers are sad about Labour Day, but that weekend holds a special place
in my heart too. It’s the official summer send-off and what a better way to go
than a long weekend on the water. Each Labour Day weekend, we’d commit to
spending 10 hours a day at the beach, no matter rain or shine, tired or hungry.
By then, you could already feel a change in the Nova Scotian air – a reminder
that fall is knocking at our door. I’m blessed to live in a world with seasons
and I’m already counting down the days until I can experience Mother Summer
again.
