Assignment Instructions:
The purpose of this assignment is to synthesize the literature related to a topic of interest, identify gaps, develop a PICOT question relevant to the problem, and determine a proposed research design. The paper must include a refined introduction based on previous peer and faculty feedback.
Add the articles shared within the discussion board to the W4 Evidence Table & Literature Search Worksheet. Then, analyze the articles within the table for relevancy to the proposed PICOT question. Be sure to attach the revised W4 Evidence Table & Literature Search Worksheet with this assignment submission.
The literature review should include 10 current (within the past 5 years) articles relevant to your PICOT question. Articles previously identified in the W4 Evidence Table & Literature Search Worksheet, W5 Literature Search Annotated Bibliography, and weekly discussions (see bottom of page) must be incorporated. In addition, you must include two more current and relevant articles for a total of 10 articles. Historical research articles greater than five years may be included as supportive articles, in addition to the required 10 articles.

Background of the problem:
Engages reader with a strong background “origin” of the problem addressing the “who”, “what”, “where”, “when”, “why”, and “how”, as applicable, while integrating relevant citations supporting the identified problem.
Problem Statement:
Identifies a well-formulated problem statement (PICOT question), clearly demonstrating a need for this research, while summarizing the recent research on the topic, its relevancy in nursing, and how the current research is deficient thoroughly and concisely.
Purpose Statement:
Describes the focus and intention of the developing EBP project, including a proposed plan to solve the problem, independent and dependent variables, and brief description of the population thoroughly and concisely.
Significance:
Explains why the proposed EBP project is unique to the problem, potential benefits, and how this project will contribute to nursing and/or other disciplines thoroughly and concisely.
Literature search:
Outlines the steps of article inclusion, including search engines, search terms, and inclusion/exclusion criteria. States final number of articles included for proposed research project in a detailed and concise manner.
Theoretical frameworks/models:
Identifies a theoretical framework(s)/model(s) and discusses how it will effectively support and ground the developing EBP project thoroughly and concisely.
Gaps:
Identifies gaps in research thoroughly and concisely.
Organization
Writes in an organized, logical, and unbiased manner; uses appropriate transitions from idea to idea.
Synthesis:
Synthesizes thoughts/points using strong evidence to support a developing EBP project and how you will connect your research with practice, using no more than 2-3 direct quotes, thoroughly and concisely.
Conclusion
Explains how the paper met the purpose stated thoroughly and concisely.
References:
Paper was 5-7 pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) AND identifies 10 relevant, single, original research articles (NO systematic reviews, meta- analyses, or meta-syntheses) AND published within the past 5 years.
