Format: MLA format with MLA works cited page
Length: minimum 6-8 pages typed
Font and Spacing: Times New Roman 12pt, Double Spaced
References: Use at least 4 sources
Two sources are the literature that you are going to analyze. You can use at least two other sources such are definitions, and/or support for the literature and theme sections. Each of these sources need to be in the works cited page and be cited intext.
Make sure to follow this outline.

Introduction – Define Literature in your introduction. Reflect on its importance. Quote someone else’s definition but be sure to reference MLA style. (1/2 -1 page)

How does it connect to life?
Theme – Select an issue or aspect of life that you will be focusing on. Spend time detailing and reflecting on the theme or issue. How is your topic important to the overall human experience? (1-2 pages).This is very general. Do not mention the 2 pieces of literature you are going to discuss.
Identify the Theme
Why is the theme important to literature?
Works of Art (1-2 sentences). (This is the first time you mention the 2 pieces of literature you are going to analyze by the analyzed by the same theme) – List the two pieces of literature that you chose from the textbook. Then list your thesis.
Mention the works of Art

Work of Art #1 – from the textbook – Next, discuss the works of literature you have selected. Engage them critically; do not just summarize them. Think about what each piece says about your topic and how it conveys its message. Why are these pieces important? How does the work of art expand and complicate its theme? (1 1/2 – 2 pages per work of literature) (3-4 pages total)

Discuss the similarities and differences with the theme. Be specific.
Conclusion – For your conclusion, what is the overall connection between literature and life? What can we learn from each work? Why do we care about the theme of the words? How do these works of literature, and literature in general, enrich the human condition and experience? (1/2-1 page)
This is very general, DO NOT discuss the two pieces of literature that you talked about in the paper.
