Here are the instructions: RESEARCH PAPER
Work on the research paper begins the first week of the term and progresses for rest of the semester to completion as follows:
Topic (each topic should reflect an aspect of social justice and might be in the student’s major or something of extreme interest to the student.)
A working outline (a road map of where you intend to go with the paper). This may require the student to do some pre-research on their topic which may begin with an online search about topic. Once the topic is decided on, student should begin to look for sources about their chosen topic. The outline may change a bit as the research goes on, but should stay fairly close to your outline.
Start developing a bibliography (begin gathering sources—books, articles in magazines, journals, newspapers, on-line data bases, interviews, documentaries, etc.)
Develop a detailed outline (see completed outline in modules for a model of this).
Bibliography cards/note cards (6 sets required) Requirements are as follows: 1. Need a bibliographic citation on the first card of each set. 2. Need to coordinate with your outline. 3. Need to be photocopied or cut and pasted from academic source. 4. Need page numbers for everything that is in print.
Rough Draft (7-9 written pages in MLA format, including in-text/parenthetical citations, most of which should be direct quotes—stay away from paraphrasing; a completed bibliography; page numbers on each page; whole document should be double spaced including block quotes and bibliography; should cite directly from at least six (6) of your eight (8) required sources.
Final paper—7-9 written pages (not including a cover page or the bibliography). Should be written in MLA formatting. Paper should be 80% of the student’s writing supported by 20% direct quotes from experts supporting the students’ claim about their research.
The research paper follows the standard research paper format. It must be at least seven, and no more than nine, pages double spaced, follow MLA standards, and have a minimum of eight bibliographical references, and cite from at least six of those sources.
*I will not accept papers in any other format than MLA!!!
I attached my outline for the paper with my four reflected sources attached with it.
