This document must be typed (12-point Times New Roman font), double-spaced,
with a correctly formatted MLA Annotated Bibliography Page.
• The text of the document (not including the Annotated Bibliography Page) should
fall between 1250 and 1500 words. Students are asked to include a word count in
their heading.
• The document should be grammatically correct, free of errors in mechanics,
grammar, usage, spelling, and documentation.
• This document must use three to five authoritative sources (one must be from
the RCBC Databases) **if you cannot find the proper sources, you may need
to change your topic
• The final research document must contain quotations from or other references to
your sources, and these references should be used to support your assertions about
the texts and be properly documented (utilizing MLA-Style Citations for
documentation).
• Without successful completion of this document (70%), even sufficient point
totals from other assignments, the student should not pass English 101.
Thesis: You must draft a thesis statement and have it ready for submission on -date
to be announced.
Sources: What types of sources will you need to find to learn about your topic?
Think about your own stance on the topic-are you skeptical? Confused?
Indifferent?
Sources: You are required to use three to five sources. Make sure you use both,
primary and secondary sources (see the “Support Materials” tab for reference on
sources). You must use at least one peer-reviewed article from the RCBC
database.

Audience: you are writing this paper for not only your Professor, but for your
classmates as well. Remember, you are all at the same educational level.
Topic: Please choose one of the topics provided by your Professor (unless
otherwise approved in advance). I have provided research questions, now it is your
job to develop a working thesis statement. Use the RCBC thesis document for
reference; you should include three (3) elements to your thesis.
Outline: You must draft an MLA outline and submit it via Blackboard on, date to
be announced.
Rough Draft: The rough draft of your paper is due on date to be announced.

Final Exam: You will be required to compose a presentation on your research
project. Be prepared to discuss reasons and evidence which relates back to your
thesis statement.
