Scenario
You are a new director at a small early childhood center in your town. On your first day of work, two staff members independently approached you to complain about teacher Annabele who has been at the school for two years. They are concerned about her work ethic. They each told you that the previous director played favoritism to Annabele. However, Annabele was not a team player in the center. The two teachers gave you similar stories about how Annabele would talk behind other teachers’ backs, came in late and left early, did not complete her assigned duties, and overall, just did not ‘fit in’ with the other staff.
Instructions
For this deliverable you will complete two assignments: Part 1: You write a paper discussing management styles used to resolve professional interpersonal challenges. Part 2: You will design a survey to gather center information.
Part I: Management Styles
After reading the above scenario, please explain in a 2-3 page reflection management styles and what you would do to help resolve the problem between the teachers.
Select a management style that you feel will resolve the problem.
Provide at least 2 specific reasons why the management style you decided to use is appropriate to help solve the issue.
Provide at least 2 specific reasons how your approach will help with the overall culture of your program.
Incorporate at least 1 resource from the course lesson content or the Rasmussen Library to support your thinking in this area.
Part 2: Employee Survey
Design an employee survey to measure the overall climate at the center.
Select 3 categories from the following list.
Safety
Teaching and Learning
Environmental
Relationships (families, children, and co-workers)
Leadership and Professional Relationships
Create 5 questions for each of your selected categories that will help address the climate at the center.
Include at least 5 questions related to the staff’s views on the organizational culture of the program.
