the umbrella of humanities that has been chosen will be a discipline that falls under
Natural Sciences and Mathematics to look at Operation Christmas Child.
In the previous module, your team came to a consensus on one charity to support and examined the interplay of the charity and the issue of cultural diversity. In this module, your team will work together to assemble an analysis of the charity through multiple disciplinary perspectives.
Begin by reading the Module 5 Presentation Part I and reading and viewing all resources contained in it. In addition, make sure to review the scope of the team project.
Initial Post (Due Wednesday)
Each team member will choose one liberal arts discipline to utilize for this module’s team discussion. By Wednesday night of Module 5, you will decide with your team who will be assigned to which discipline. Your team must cover all 3 major “umbrella” areas (Humanities, Social Science, and Natural Sciences/Mathematics). If there are more than three team members, multiple people can choose one umbrella area, but no two people should choose the same discipline within it. Within those umbrella areas, you can choose whichever specific disciplines you want, making sure to consider the areas of expertise of your group members and what fits best with your charity’s focus and approach.
Making sure your team has someone in each major umbrella area and everyone is picking a relevant and different discipline will take some back-and-forth conversation, so make sure you are actively contributing to your team’s decision through posts early in the week.
Analysis Post (Due Friday)
By Friday night of Module 5, craft a post of at least 250 words analyzing your charity through one disciplinary perspective:
Find at least two scholarly sources from your chosen discipline that address at least one of the following elements of your charity and then summarize the findings for your team.
The topic/problem the charity is addressing and why it’s a problem or what led to that problem
How the charity aims to solve the problem
The efficacy of the charity and/or what problems remain
The impact of the charity on individuals, the community, or humanity
The role of cultural diversity
Explain why your chosen discipline’s methodology/approach, communication style, and knowledge base is crucial for understanding this charity and communicating about it to others.
Make sure to cite your sources in APA formatLinks to an external site. and provide a link for others to review.
Respond to Teammates’ Posts (Due Sunday)
By Sunday night, review your teammates’ contributions. Reply to their posts, thinking about how your two disciplines might intersect in order to gain a fuller picture of your charitable organization, the problem it aims to solve, and its impact.
