Here are the parameters for the assignment: this assignment is going to be set up as a handout for a food pamphlet, my food that I was assigned was Ginseng. I need the assignment to be set up like a pamphlet with 2 pictures of Ginseng. I would like 1 photo to be of the plant before it was processed, and one to be of a common ginseng food product, photos must be cited.
Here is what my teacher wants:
Humans
use food and other consumable substances for the treatment of medical
conditions. Many of our current drugs originated in substances from
nature. In this assignment, students will investigate a food or other
consumable supplement and develop a brief handout. In the handout,
identify the food/substance and describe its therapeutic uses,
effectiveness, adverse effects, and interactions with other drugs. Add
any unusual or interesting information.
Properly cite all resources you used for gathering the information in APA 7 format. This
includes using parenthetical citations after any ideas not your own,
quotation marks around direct quotes, and a reference page. You must put
the information you learn into your own words with a parenthetical
citation after OR use quotation marks and a parenthetical citation if
you take direct quotes from a source.
If sources are used and not cited, this constitutes
plagiarism and will lead to further academic consequences.
As a nurse, you should base your practice on reliable and valid
evidence. The references for this paper should be evidence-based
credible resources. Look for sources with .gov, .org. You may not use Wikipedia or similar
websites, these are not good sources. You may count the textbook as source.
Information from unsubstantiated Internet sites or personal anecdotes
are not appropriate. You want to provide information about your
food/substance that helps them to consider its potential use in health.
Provide a 1-page handout using the following bolded headings:
Food/substance – Identify what food or substance
you are discussing. List any additional names that may be used for your
food/substance. Provide a little background/history if possible. We will
have a sign up sheet to prevent food/substance repetition.
Therapeutic uses and effectiveness – Describe what the food/substance is used for and what its proposed therapeutic effects are. Does it seem to be effective?
Adverse effects – Identify and describe any known adverse effects from the use of the food/substance. Who should avoid this substance?
Interactions – Identify and describe known interactions with pharmeceutical drugs or foods/substances.
Additional information and Graphics – Include any additional interesting or unusual information about your food/substance.
Include a few graphics/pictures throughout the handout to add further interest to your topic.
References- Include on a separate page the references (APA 7 format) used for your paper/handout (minimum of 3 sources).
