Nursing
Case Study Guidelines: A nursing case study
will be written on one postpartum patient who has a medical issue or
complication of pregnancy. Please follow the grading rubric very
carefully and complete the entire clinical form. You must write each area
of the rubric with a heading for that specific area in your paper. Attach your
relevant current nursing journal to your case study. Don’t forget to use
citations. The case study should include the following.
1.
Four nursing care plans
on the prioritized nursing diagnosis.
2.
Diagnostic Divisions and
QSEN.
3.
APA format with a cover
page and references
4.
Attached current nursing
peer reviewed journal related to the patient’s disease or complication.
5.
Paper should include
tables or lists with antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum labs, screenings,
medications, ultrasounds and prenatal visits.
6.
The pathophysiology
component is the most important part and very comprehensive area of the paper.
This area is typically 2-5 pages long depending on the disease and/or
complication of pregnancy. It must include: definition of the high-risk
condition or disease, pathophysiology of the condition, risk to fetus or
pregnancy, medical management including medications, dosages, procedures,
surgeries etc., Plus, nursing interventions and implications, what is the nursing
care going to focus on. How did this condition affect the patient’s pregnancy
or fetus? What did the outcome of the patient’s hospital stay and delivery?
Be
thorough and concise. You should come full circle with the information, i.e. If
you stated under the pathophysiology section that there is an increased risk
for intrauterine growth restriction with the patient’s condition, then under
the outcomes or conclusion section you should be discussing whether
intrauterine growth restriction was present in the fetus and described what
happened or follow up with this problem.
The
four nursing care plans on postpartum patients using the Diagnostic Division
Index and QSEN are required for completion of this course. The care plans
are to be turned in with the case study. The care plans must be written
on the same patient that you are doing a case study on. They should be
typed.
