How to make an annotation in the PDF? highlight a section (usually a word, phrase, or sentence) of the paper you would like to a make comment on and type your response in the window on the right. If you want to make a comment on a figure, you can also drop a pin instead of highlighting text.

As you read through the paper, here are some ideas to consider for your annotations:

  • Does this relate to CogBooks material?
  • How does this relate to evolution in general?
  • Do you find this interesting? Why?
  • Do you find this confusing? Why?
  • Do you agree with the authors conclusion?
  • How would you improve a figure to make it easier to understand?
  • What should be the researchers next steps?
  • Was there something about the experiment you would have done differently?

  • One original annotation OR reply to peer in the Introduction – 5 points
  • One original annotation OR reply to peer in the Materials and Methods – 5 points
  • One original annotation OR reply to peer in the Results – 5 points
