For the first presentation, I will need to present a research proposal in a structured format (see below) and describe the process of developing the research project.
The presentation should have 3 things:
Clarity: A clear topic that resonates with you and is relevant to the course material. Ideally, the topic should build upon the motivated question.
Preparation: dive deeply into the chosen topic. Find scholarly sources. Prepare a 1-2 page document for yourself to clarify your presentation’s main points. Make sure the slides are just a visual aid, and not the script to your presentation.
Structure: your presentation should introduce us to the topic you are aiming to discuss and think about in your final paper. I suggest the following structure to your presentation:
Give us the context for your research question.
Tell us what the central question is that you are looking to answer and why it is important for you to answer it.
Show us the examples of the specific things you are trying to examine (is it from a story, from a novel, from a movie, or a music album or poetry collection?) and give us a summary of how you are aiming to examine and analyze it.
