14-18 pages – 12 point Times New Roman font, double spaced, 1 inch margins, Word doc.
Students will write a case report in which they describe a system requiring intervention. The system may be
• A system with which the student has worked (or is working) in a professional capacity
• A system of which the student has reasonable knowledge at the personal or familial level (If this option is chosen, write the case report from an objective perspective, as if one were the therapist, and communicate privately to the instructors that your relationship with the system is personal, not professional. This will protect your own and your family’s privacy.)
• A system portrayed in a book, play, film, or video. – this is my choice and the film is: Ordinary People from 1980
The student will provide a thorough descriiption of the system and its component elements – taking care, in the case of clients or personal relationships, to safeguard confidentiality by changing non-relevant details and using pseudonyms.
Then the student will provide a systemic assessment of the case, grounded in at least one of the theories covered in the course.
Next, the student will discuss how their personality and way of being with others “meshes” (in terms of their gifts and growing edges) with the needs of the system needing intervention.- here one thing that can be mentioned is having an empathetic inclination (good because I can connect with clients), bad because I need to work more on having a more objective stance and not getting pulled into the situation)
Finally, the student will describe how they would/will conduct therapeutic work with the system (treatment plan). The proposed treatment plan needs to be designed using the same systemic theory(ies) used in the assessment of the system. Make sure you choose a theory that is a good fit for treating the presenting problem you choose. You will find certain problems lend themselves to certain theories. The case report will conclude with a brief theological reflection which integrates the system situation (including the spirituality of that system), the student’s personhood and personal spirituality, and the therapy plan. In addition to making reference, with citations, to the required textbook(s) in completing this assignment, students are required to cite a minimum of 2 academic sources for the theory chosen for the assessment and treatment plan in this assignment. The assignment should demonstrate your capacity to think and work systemically.
I must have a case conceptualization for this paper but no need for diagnosis or assessment section.
