For this class, we are required to write a literature review.
We are starting by constructing our METHODs section.
The method section will include: a descriiption of your search, search criteria, operational definitions of coded variables (which must include at a minimum the following variables: ABA-based intervention strategies used, experimental designs, participant characteristics, results), and a system used to evaluate the quality of the evidence (see Kratchowill et al. 2011).
Method (40 total)
• Selection Process (10 points): In the first paragraph of your methods describes how
you found your articles. What databases did you use? What key words did you use?
Use the example on Blackboard as an example for how to set up this paragraph.
• Criteria for Inclusion (10 points): In this first section of your method, you should describe what criteria you used to select articles for your review. These criteria will
be selected by you in discussion with me and will be specific to your selected topic.
• Dimensions (20 points): To help you in drawing comparisons between articles and highlighting differences and areas that could benefit from more research you should
pick several dimensions across which to evaluate the articles. In this section you should state each dimension and why you chose it. Some dimensions you might consider including are:
o Participant diagnosis
o Participant age
o Language assessments conducted?
o Preference assessment?
o Intervention used (if all your articles did not use the same one) o Participant results (did the intervention work?)
o IOA collected?
• Generalization procedures
• Maintenance procedures
ALL articles were found through JABA (Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis).
The articles are attached below.
