Introduction
The purpose of the advanced residency in your program is to practice advanced counseling skills in simulated role-plays, learn from your colleagues, and get constructive feedback from your instructors. This practice should continue upon your return home. By reviewing your recorded practice, you will have a good opportunity to evaluate your current skills and think about the skills that you would like to refine for your future internships and career. It is important to practice the skills you have learned. Take the time you need to practice and get a good recording of your skills for this assignment.
Instructions
During the face-to-face residency, you will participate as a client and as a counselor in a small group/triad role-play. The instructor will give verbal and checklist feedback about the skills that you demonstrated during the role-play.
After the residency, you will meet virtually with your small group/triad again to practice your role-play and create a final recording to submit as an assignment.
Use your Capella student Zoom account to record your role-play from residency with your small group.
Set Zoom preferences to produce your video:
In Settings, under Cloud Recording.
Record gallery view with shared screen.
Viewers can see the transcript.
In Settings, under Advanced Cloud Recording.
Add a time stamp to the recording.
Audio transcript.
It is recommended to do a test recording to make sure that the recording shows the time stamp, gallery view (both the counselor and the client are on the screen at the same time), and generates an audio transcript.
Watch the recording and note the time stamps of the conversation when you demonstrate a skill, possible skills listed in the Advanced Role-Play Recording Self-Evaluation Worksheet.
Complete the Advanced Role-Play Recording Self-Evaluation Worksheet [DOCX].
Identify time stamps and skills.
Write your analysis on how well you demonstrated each skill or what you could work on.
Write a reflection about the whole session and respond to the questions noted in the worksheet.
Submit your assignment that includes all of the following:
