The purpose of this assignment is to alert students to the many ways in which films portray relationships and families. It is to raise students’ awareness of the themes, words, and settings of films, and how these can often educate us about other cultures, relationship problems, and other issues related to marriage and families. This assignment, therefore, is to raise your awareness of the several ways in which family life and expected behaviors may be perpetuated, encouraged, and discussed in movies. This is to alert you to the magnitude of this phenomenon and depending on how and what we watch, movies can encourage certain behaviors and views about marriage and families. The assignment also allows you to use the theories discussed in Chapter 2 to help you make sense of what you are viewing.

Directions:
1. Ensure your movie analysis is written in proper English.
2. Use paragraphs and cite all sources of information in the body of your document (next to where the information is stated. Give the author’s last name, year, and page).
3. Do not exceed 3 pages of writing. I will only read 3 pages.
4. Ensure the 3 pages are full of content. This means your name and other information must be placed on a cover page. It must not appear on any of the 3 pages of work.
5. Do not use headers and footers.
6. Use Times New Roman 12 font, double line spacing, with one-inch margins all around

After watching your movie, respond to the following questions in no more than 3 full pages of content.
1. Tell readers the name of the movie. The producer, year produced country of origin and genre.
2. What does the movie title mean, and how does it relate to the movie’s plot?
3. Which two theoretical perspectives do you think are best related to your movie? Provide reasons to justify your choice of each perspective.
4. What are some words and phrases used that indicate or alerted you to marriage and family issues?
5. What forms of family and family issues discussed in the textbook did you recognize in the movie? Provide the page numbers for the issues you recognized.
6. How did this movie make you feel? Did you feel that it was expressing feelings that are similar to your own?
7. If you could come up with an alternate title for this movie, what would it be? Why?
8. What is the movie producer trying to tell you? What do you think they were feeling when they wrote and or produced this movie?
9. Do you agree or disagree with what they are saying? Why?
10. Which chapters in the textbook are most aligned with your movie’s content? Why do you think so?
11. Prior to this assignment, how many times have you watched this movie?
12. What new have you learned about this movie after completing this assignment?
13. Choose two theories from chapter 2. Discuss the main points of the theory and say how the theory helped you understand the movie. Be very specific with your application. Use examples to help the readers understand.
