1. Sit down and write out your Ideal Day. Start from when you wake up until you go to sleep. Include EVERYTHING. Ideals are in the details. What do you eat? Who do you see? How to you get from A to B? If you could live the perfect day over and over again (insert Groundhog Day reference here), what would that day be? That is step one.
2. In considering your ideal day, what are three things you can start doing right now that will bring you closer to making that ideal day a reality? This is a different approach to goal setting. Let’s set some action items and give them purpose. Share your three things and why you chose these three to focus on…what will they yield?
Here is an example. One thing I could do is wake up at 6 am everyday (which I don’t do because I’m usually up 1-2 times a night with children). I chose this because it would give me time to myself before my family wakes up and I could use it to set the tone for the day whether that be prayer, coffee, reading, or yoga.
3. Think about a time when you were most proud of a performance (playing/coaching, school, hobby, presentation, etc.). What were you focused on that helped you perform at your best? Then, think about a time when you didn’t perform to your best. What were you focused on that was outside of your control? What could you have given attention to instead?
