Passion Project: For story three, you have complete autonomy over your story’s topic and argument. The idea here is for you to investigate and write about something you are passionately interested in. Many here will choose topics and arguments that are related to your interests, majors, or career goals. That’s fine. But you might also consider choosing a topic that you’d like to “go down the rabbit hole” with–something you want to learn more about and share with others. A couple things to keep in mind:
1. I will not be assigning you an annotated bibliography, cover letter pitch, or any development assignments leading up to your draft (except for your pitch to your peers in the online discussion below). You are in control of the writing process this time. However, I’m here to help if you want to run ideas by me, discuss development, etc.
2. Past guidelines apply to this story project. While you have autonomy, you are still expected to employ and develop the narrative mode, have an argument, and include varied research and support.
3. Remember, Humankind is our central model for the narrative mode of argumentation. Use the text to inspire your rhetorical approach, and remember to work on developing from your baseline.
