Critical Eye Assignment
Assignment: Write an analysis using critical thinking on an example of your choice.
Purpose: To expand on using critical thinking skills in writing
Due Date: Sunday, June 20th by midnight
Requirements: 750-1,000 wds., a double-spaced typed page, and only your analysis! No outside research. Please refer to the critical thinking materials. Make sure to add a creative title. This is your work so please make it stand out!
Topic: Select an example to apply critical thinking analysis. You can choose any example as long as it is accessible and school appropriate.
Some suggestions include:
-literature (book, poem, short story, newspaper, magazine, phrase, quotation, etc.)
-music (song, lyric, etc.)
-art (image, dance, movie, etc.)
-advertisement (TV, radio, Internet, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.)
-social issue (immigration, gun control, women’s rights, racism, etc.)
Here are some questions to consider for your analysis:
What is the purpose/function of the sample? Does it serve its purpose? Describe the sample and its effect. How do people perceive the sample? How do you perceive the sample?
Please be specific as possible and try to stay away from generic phrases such as “I think, I believe, or I feel.” Simply state your thoughts.
