Activity Instructions
Write an academic essay 2-3 pages that identifies and assesses factors impacting juvenile corrections, both community-based and institutional, and critique ways that the juvenile correctional system can be improved.
In your essay, address the following:
1. -Assess the effectiveness of diversion programs and provide an example to support your answer.
2. -Critique whether Teen Courts and community servicing are a more effective at rehabilitating a youth than institutional corrections.
3. -Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of substance abuse diversionary programs
4. -Judge the value in law enforcement using community policing as an intervention method.

Grading and Assessment
The following general guidelines are an approximation of the grading structure, based on the writing rubric used:
