I want a personal statement for Biology PhD programs. This should be an appropriate personal statement for Biomedical Sciences, Cell & Molecular, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, and Translational Medicine programs. I will edit and tailor the statement to be specific for each individual school and program, I want you to provide a coherent, professional, and competent framework. I will attach my resume so you have some idea of what I have done.
I completed my BS in 2010 and a Masters in 2021. I worked in the life sciences industry in the interim. I have academic research experience as well. I am very passionate about the life sciences, especially research. After obtaining a PhD I would like to return to industry and work in a senior/principal scientist capacity. Eventually I would love to be the director of an R&D group. I fully intend to do my postdoc in industry, as I have no interest in remaining in academia.
I enjoy writing for publication as well as bench work. I have currently almost completed one publication which my lab intends to submit, and I will soon begin a second publication. I have worked at the bench for over 8 years, and I have intermediate proficiency and some mastery of a huge variety of laboratory techniques. I greatly enjoy working at the bench in the laboratory, especially when I know that my work is going to help others.
I recently had the opportunity to work on an mRNA based COVID-19 vaccine for Imperial College London, and even though this was not in a research capacity, I was overjoyed to be able to be applying my skills in the laboratory to help others.
I love research, and my foremost interests are cancer biology and stem cell biology. Recently I have been performing extensive research in algae, and although algae would not be my first choice for a subject of research I truly enjoy the hours I put in towards the pursuit of understanding these microscopic haptophyte species. I have the opportunity to read the literature, make new discoveries, and see where my discoveries sit against the backdrop of the literature.
I have also had the opportunity to play a supporting role in R&D departments of various companies, designing and executing experiments to help those organizations succeed.
