West Nile virus (Flaviviridae, Flavivirus)
1. What domestic and/or wild animals are affected by the disease and what is their role in the transmission of this disease to humans or other animals?
2.Propose an ecological/conservation-related or agricultural solution to reduce the impact of this disease on humans, wildlife and/or domesticated animals.
For example, if I were proposing a solution to reduce transmission of Nipah virus, I could propose a campaign to reduce consumption of pork products because pigs can be infected with Nipah virus and transmit it to humans. Alternatively, I could propose building roosts for fruit bats (the animal reservoir for Nipah) away from agricultural areas to reduce contamination of food with Nipah virus.
Explain both the direct effects of your solution on transmission as well as any potential positive ecological or health-related secondary effects (such as conservation benefits for other wildlife or other health benefits besides reduced disease transmission for humans). Your solution should have at least one ecological or conservation-related benefit. I encourage you to think creatively as you come up with a proposed solution and think broadly about the potential impacts of this solution, Make sure to cite any sources of information (including the CDC report above) that you use for information about your disease or proposed solution.
shouldn’t be a paper just the number and the answer to that number.
attached is the CDC report that should be used as a source for the second question.
