Students will type a 3-page (double spaced) paper summarizing their interviews with others, and reflect on what they have learned from interviewing the two chosen individuals that directly relate to this course of human development across the lifespan (i.e., incorporate terms and concepts from your textbook that help to explain the experiences of your interviewees). Students will also attach the survey of questions and answers from each interview (like an appendix). The 3-page paper must include citations and list the resources used in APA style (i.e., from your textbook or other resources related to human development). This is your opportunity to learn firsthand how people from different generations will view life experiences that are pretty common to us all.
Standard questions to be asked by the interviewer:
• How would you describe your childhood experiences? Please provide some examples for clarity.
• When you compare yourself to your peers, how smart would you say that you are? Explain why you feel this way.
• While going through puberty, was this experience more positive or negative for you? Explain.
• In life, what are you most afraid of? Explain.
• If you had a chance to change ONE THING from your past, what would it be? Explain.
• In today’s society, what things concern you the most? Explain.
• If you could be granted 3 wishes, what would they be?
• Complete this sentence: The secret to life is _______?
• As you grow and develop, are you becoming more or less like your parents?
• Have you made any drastic changes in your life? Explain.
• When you were younger and had thoughts about your life as you grew older, are you at the place in life where you thought you would be?
• Who are the most important people in your life? Explain
• What kind of relationship do you (or did you) have with your parents? Explain.
• Do you make the majority of your decisions in life based upon your needs OR the needs of those around you?
• How has your decision-making changed since you were younger? Explain
• Do you feel like you are reaching (or have reached) your educational potential? Why/why not?
• Do you plan on attending (or have you attended) college? What are your thoughts about college?
• How important was getting an education when you were growing up? Explain.
• Do you ever envy the opportunities of the opposite-sex?
• Do you think that your gender has affected where you are professionally? Explain.
• How would you describe your level of emotional intelligence (explain what this means to the interviewee)?
• Do you place an emphasis on saving money? Why/why not?
• Would you consider yourself an optimist or a pessimist? Explain.
