For our Unit 4 Activity you will be listening to music from the famous Renaissance composer Josquin des Prez. Many of you who home from Christian traditions, might recognize the song Ava Maria – one of dePrez most timeless pieces. Much of his music is still used in Christian settings. Music is a powerful way to learn about a culture / society / time period. Listening to music is so personal and can evoke emotions is ways that other forms of art my not be able to.

Write a page reflection on the music. You can take your reflection in whatever direction you want. Consider things like:
How did the music make you feel?
What were you thinking about when listening, in thinking about the tone / sound / style?
What can you imagine about life during the Renaissance (keeping in mind that de Prez was a very famous composer whose music has stood the test of time?
What is the value of immersing yourself in a new style of music that you don’t normally listen to?
