Building Control systems have evolved over the last few decades from providing simple HVAC control to complex systems controlling and monitoring complete buildings and estates.
Discuss how the systems have developed in terms of scope and technically, and their contribution/relationship to changing requirements.
Consideration should be given to:
– Evolving technologies and associated capability enhancement
– Impact of external influences e.g. various oil crises
– Development, history, advantages and influence of “open protocols”
– Green Building standards, their evolvement and requirements
– Rise in popularity / acceptance of IBMS, its capabilities and its position in the market
– Impact on energy and building operational efficiencies
– Impact of “big data”, “cloud services” and analytics
