Read the excerpts from the Epic of Gilgamesh (please see the attached copy). What makes Gilgamesh an epic hero? Compare and contrast the biblical story of the Flood (Genesis 6:9-8:22) with the flood story in the epic (lines 143-164). Additionally, do lines 173-205 have a familiar ring? Assignment purpose: This assignment will introduce you to important primary written sources in history, and in the process you will attain a more in-depth understanding of the cultures and historical periods under consideration for the week.
