You can choose either to write a literature review or an empirical paper in the field of sports economics. Your analysis/research must clearly go beyond what we covered in class. Your paper must meet the following formatting requirements.
Submit your paper in a Microsoft Word document.
At least 10 pages of double-spaced text (not including references, tables and figures).
Use a 12-point font and Times New Roman.
Number the pages.

Literature Review
The goal of a literature review is to offer an overview of the literature published on a topic. A literature review should have the following elements:
An overview of the topic under consideration; why the literature review is necessary and important
Division of works under review into categories
Summaries of each work; explanation of how each work is similar to and how it varies from the others
Conclusions as to which pieces are best considered in their argument, are most convincing of their opinions, and make the greatest contribution to the understanding and development of their area of research.

Should college athletes be paid? Give at least 5 detailed examples as to why or why not. At the college level, what is the role of the athletic director? What controversies currently exist around college athletic recruitment? How do college teams allocate their funds? How do they reinvest in players? How do college teams market themselves? Should colleges tax their students in order to help out their sports teams?
