Read the two articles by Hillary Putnam and Gregory Curry having to do with fiction and morality. They make a strong case that art can provide knowledge – at least of a certain important type. Think of a fiction that you vividly recall. Describe it briefly. When you read it, did you engage primary or secondary imagining (Currie’s distinction)? How so? If you want, you can use “children’s lit” for your example. I mean a favorite story or fairy tale that you recall. Should be about a paragraph. Assignment: Read Roger Shattuck –Forbidden Knowledge Literary critic and poet Shattuck argues that there are areas of knowledge human beings should not explore – areas that should be properly forbidden.
