Papua Hochinoa just arrived at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas (UNLV) from Tonga. He is very excited about playing college football and furthering his development in New Media & Graphic Design. While in Tonga, Papua worked for his father’s newspaper and oversaw writing and drawing the cartoon characters for the family story of “Go Go Hochinoa.”
The cartoon was a hit in their small local community and many people looked forward to reading the comic story each week. Papua loves football. But loves “art and creativity” more than anything in the world. He hopes to get a good education and eventually start his own Comic Book creating iconic Polynesian figures commemorating his rich history.
In his 3rd year at UNLV, Papua is blessed with a great opportunity to go to the National Football League (NFL). Currently, projections have Papua going in the 2nd or 3rd round of the NFL Draft. He loves football but believe the student-athlete requirements are just too hard to be successful.
He is not doing well in school because he doesn’t have time to invest in his studies as having a football scholarship is very demanding. He wants to talk to his Coach about not playing in the December Bowl Game because he wants to focus on his Finals.
How should Papua handle this situation with his Coaches? And furthermore, with his studies?
