Conflict in healthcare organizations might arise between nurse leaders and nurses between nurses and their colleagues and between nurses and the patients. Conflict in healthcare organizations threaten the provision of nursing care that will improve the health status of the patient. The potential causes of conflict occurring within healthcare organizations are due to competition between professionals, lack of clearly defined roles and expectation from the nurse leaders and manager, capacity to function as a team, and limited resources (McDaniel & Dernakovski, 2021). Whenever conflict arises among healthcare providers it hinders their productivity and create an environment where healthcare providers concentrate towards providing quality, reliable, safe, and cost-effective medical care. Whenever conflict arises in healthcare organizations it is important to negotiate and resolve the conflict. The principles of negotiation and conflict resolution that are used by nurse leaders to address conflict include empathize, engage, build trust, and self-restrain (Braverman, 2021). These principles and guidance provide an opportunity for healthcare leaders to create an environment that will resolve the existing problem or issue among the healthcare providers in conflict. For example, through building trust among the conflicting parties it creates an opportunity to resolve and prevent emergence of future conflict. The leadership theory that nurses leaders and managers can integrate towards addressing conflict will be transformational leadership. The rationale for this is that transformational leaders tend to assist an individual in the process of transformation whether their beliefs and values support or align to the organizational values therefore, preventing any conflict from arising.
