Pick a fire department near-miss incident (of your choosing) and prepare a review of the incident. Conduct research using your textbook, NFPA standards 1500, 1521, 1585, and any other resources to help you.
As the Incident Safety Officer of a Fire Department and using your near-miss report, conduct a safety and health investigation, involving an occupational injury, illness, exposure, fatality, near miss, or other potentially hazardous condition involving fire department members, fire department vehicles, apparatus, equipment, or facilities, so that the facts and the root cause of the incident are correctly identified. Then make recommendations for preventing similar losses in the future, and all information gathered in the investigation is documented, reported, and recorded.
