Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Many organisms live in and on our bodies. They’re normally harmless or even helpful. But under certain conditions, some organisms may cause diseases.”
As an Environmental Control Officer, you are tasked to write a proposal on how to effectively prevent/ reduce the incidence of infectious disease in a dormitory.
Your proposal should include the following:
• Select an appropriate infectious disease and provide a general background about the disease e.g. history and origins of the diseases.
• Explain how the disease spreads in the community and describe the signs and symptoms at the onset of the disease.
• Describe at least two ways that can help to control the spread of the disease in the community.
• Identify at least two stakeholders who should be involved in managing the outbreak of the disease.
• Describe at least two roles of those involved in managing the outbreak of the disease.
• Suggest at least three ways in which the stakeholders can be informed about the disease.
• Propose and elaborate on three ways to educate dormitory residents about hygiene practices to stop the spread of the disease.
