PLEASE NOTE: I am attaching an example of how to answer questions. This is ONLY an example for formatting purposes.
After the article reference listing, use
the headings below to answer the questions in detail (answer questions in same
outline format as below; no other format will be accepted). Include an in text
citation/ reference to support each answer. Provide a reference page and support your statements with a minimum of two references.
PLEASE NOTE: EACH LETTER must be answered separately. PLEASE be as detailed as possible when answering. Use the numbered portion as the heading.
6. Research Design
a. Does the approach fit the purpose and hypothesis(es)?
b. Was the most rigorous possible design used given the purpose of
the research?
c. Was the number of data collection points appropriate?
d. Did the design minimize biases and threats to internal, construct and
external validity of the study?
7. Population and Sample
a. Was the population properly identified and described? Was the
sample described in sufficient detail?
b. Was the best possible sampling design used to enhance the
sample’s representativeness? Were sample biases minimized?
c. Was the sample size adequate? Was a power analysis used to
estimate sample size needs?
8. Data Collection and Measurement
a. Are the operational and conceptual definitions congruent?
b. Were key variables operationalized using the best possible method
and with adequate justification?
c. Are instruments objective? Reliable? Valid?
d. Was data collected in a manner that minimized bias? Were the staff
that collected data appropriately trained?
9. Data Analysis
a. Given the level of measurement of the variables and number of
groups being compared, were appropriate statistical methods used?
b. Is a thorough descriiptive analysis given?
c. Were Type 1 and Type II errors avoided or minimized?
10. Presentation of Findings/Implications
a. Are all hypotheses discussed with findings adequately summarized
with appropriate use of tables and figures?
b. Are findings reported in a manner that facilitates a meta-analysis
and with sufficient information needed for evidence based practice?
c. Were the recommendations for clinical practice and further research
reasonable and complete?
d. Are limitations presented and adequate?
