Course name: Children’s literature and reader response criticism
Write a reflection essay for this course to demonstrate that, with reference to one of the course learning goals and objectives (listed below), you are able to do or understand something new–or better–than would have been possible when we began the course. In doing so, draw evidence from your work for this class. Whatever evidence you select, make sure that you show the reader what you can do or understand, rather than simply telling the reader you have built your ability or understanding. In other words, you will likely need to draw (and perhaps quote) from your prior work and make highly specific references to those samples as you construct your essay. Exactly how and why have you advanced, and how might you sustain this progress beyond the course?
Goal: Students will conceptualize and implement presentations that promote life-long literacy and a passionately enduring relationship to both spoken and written words.

2. Have you done a similar kind of work in the past (earlier in the year or in a previous grade; in school or out of school)?
3. How do you feel about this piece of work? What parts of it do you particularly like? Dislike? Why? What did/do you enjoy about this piece or work?
4. What was especially satisfying to you about either the process or the finished product?
5. What did you learn about yourself as you worked on this piece?
6. Have you changed any ideas you used to have on this subject?
7. If someone else were looking at the piece, what might they learn about who you are?
8. In what ways do you think you need to improve?
9. What problems did you encounter while you were working on this piece? How did you solve them?
10. Does this work tell a story?
