In chapter 4, we learned about a variety of digital media used by sport and entertainment PR professionals, including blogs. We discussed an example of a blog in The Players’ Tribune.
The Players’ Tribune describes itself as “a new media company that provides athletes with a platform to connect directly with their fans, in their own words.” Visit the blog (hyperlinked above), click around, read a few stories/watch a few videos, and get a sense of what the blog accomplishes.
Answer the three questions below based on what we’ve learned so far about sport/entertainment PR:
Based on what you read/see, who is the key public/audience for The Players’ Tribune?
What do you believe is the goal and/or purpose of The Players’ Tribune?
In your opinion, do you believe it is important to provide athletes with a communications platform like The Players’ Tribune? Why or why not?
Bonus question (not for extra points necessarily, but for consideration and comment in your post): Should there be a similar type of blog/communications platform for the entertainment and music industries? Why or why not? Or does one already exist? If so, link to it. (I’d love to check it out!)
REMINDER:
The writing assignments should include content to effectively communicate important information to your classmates and instructor. Be clear and thorough, but concise.
The subject of your posts should reflect the content of your assignment. (Just like the headline of a news release, article or web story.)
