this paper is a writing explaining a specific concept in an engineering field , i chose laws of thermodynamics as my explanation, specifically the first law of thermodynamics.

Explanation of technical concept
One or two pages
Write an explanation of a concept or process related to your field of study. You can also explain how a tool or a machine works. Your explanation should be written for an educated lay audience, one that possesses no specialized knowledge of your field of study or the specific subject of your document.
Guidelines
1. You can use sources for your explanation if you wish, but these sources should be used sparingly and should only reinforce your explanation. Your explanation should not be a collection of quotes. Use your own words.
2. Include figures (illustrations, drawings, sketches, flow charts, diagrams, photographs with callouts). Make sure that you integrate figures appropriately: a reference to the graphic in your text, a label (e.g., “Figure”), a number (“1”), a title, and a source citation if the figure is not yours
3. Introduce your topic clearly by offering context.
4. Make sure that you provide sufficient details about your topic. Carefully consider what your readers need to know to gain an understanding of the topic.
5. Make sure that your writing is clear, precise, and grammatically correct. Evaluate whether you need to offer parenthetical definitions for technical terms.
I strongly encourage you to create your own figures. If you decide to rely heavily on visuals, make sure that you still include text to accompany them.
