****THESIS STATEMENT***** Childhood maltreatment outcomes display significant complexities among potential mechanisms underlying the relationship with personality dimensions, internalized and externalizing symptoms, and adult criminality. Furthermore, there is an increased risk of criminal behavior for individuals with certain maladaptive personality characteristics and childhood maltreatment severity. Identifying the multifaceted histories of childhood maltreatment through a transdiagnostic approach targeting the early development of associated maladaptive personality traits and exhibited internalizing and externalizing symptoms, early interventions can help reduce the risk of criminal behaviors in later adulthood.
