Discussion #1Using the GCU library vs. a general internet search is more beneficial because the GCU library has many sources available to students for free compared to internet searches might make us pay to see the full article. As this not only makes us more vulnerable to false information the GCU library has all the resources available for students. When it comes to us actually retrieving information off a general internet search we should look closely into it being a scholarly, peer reviewed source. Skim through the article and ensure it’s on topic, and also ensure the source is valid.
Discussion #2It is important to use scholarly or peer-reviewed articles because these articles have been reviewed and fact-checked immensely. The internet can provide you with false information, which would then cause you to put facts in an essay that are not necessarily true. On most websites on the internet, people can edit and upload anything they want. For example, Wikipedia is one of the most inaccurate websites you can gather information from. If a person is to look for information on the internet, a good rule of thumb is utilizing websites that end in .edu or .org. These website endings tend to mean all information on the website is accurate and true. For example, if a veteran is looking to find out information about the healthcare they can receive, they should go to https://www.vacareers.va.gov/.
Discussion #3The importance of using the GCU library is that the information is always going to be creditable and accurate, and you don’t have to worry about it being false. And the important of using scholarly is knowing what to write and how to write it and making sure you’re wording it and it’s making sense in your essay and all the right information is creditable and documented. Peer reviewed resources are great because you know someone has used it and its accreditable vs searching on the internet and not knowing if the information on the internet is right or not and really can’t verify it.
Discussion #4It is important to use these resources because we can trust that GCU librarians have done the research for us regarding gathering the best and credited resources to use for students vs just searching the internet where there will be a lot of misinformation but we can not trust that is from a credited article. Which in turn makes it a lot easier for us when researching. I believe that if we want to use the internet for certain things that may not need to have been through a peer review then we are able to do so but only if a peer review is not required.

Discussion #8Topic: Characteristics of good leaders.
Direct Quote: “To further simplify, without critical reflection, professionals act as they are taught, or act based on experience.
