Please answer ALL of the following questions:
1. What are your thoughts about the novel so far?
Do you find the book accessible (in other words – that you can read and follow along)?
How are you reading and taking notes?
In other words, tell me about when/how you read (for example are listening to Audible as you commute to work – totally ok if you are!! / if you are, when/how are you keeping notes? Or maybe you are reading before going to bed? Maybe you read in ten minute spurts? Anything is fine!! The point is that you are reading and your are taking notes. And I want to know about your process!).

2. Who is Lorena? Tell me some details about her. Also, tell me what you think of Julia and Lorena’s relationship in this portion of the novel. Be specific.
3. As move through the novel, Julia starts uncovering some details about Olga; maybe Olga wasn’t as perfect as everyone thought she was. What are some details we learn?
4. In chapter 6, while Julia is at her young cousin Victor’s party, her old cousin Freddy tells her, “We need more people like you in college” (81). Can you explain this quote, based on what you know and infer about Julia’s character so far. Why is Freddy telling her this? (think about “people like you”–> who is Julia?).
5. Describe Julia and her parents’ relationship.
6. Identify a setting in these first 123 pages of the novel (there are many, so just choose one!). What role does this setting play in the novel?
7. Please write one paragraph that argues (that just means you make a point that you support and explain) why a particular setting in I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter is significant.
Paragraph must with a strong point that responds to the prompt, is supported by a textual illustration/example to show the reader the point. The writer explains the meaning/significance of the illustration in relation to the point.
Sentences must have concrete nouns/subjects and active verbs. The sentences connect and hold hands. In other words, the paragraph is unified, cohesive, and concise.
