InformationPresentation: approximately 5:00 minutes. The ability to communicate and interact with different cultures is extremely important in this day and age due to the internet, the cultural make-up of America, and our close proximity to another country.
This assignment asks you to explore a country and culture that you are interested in and that is different and unique from your own. You will need to brainstorm, conduct research, organize a journal of your excursions, and then present your project in front of your classmates. This is a fun assignment that will let you pair your understanding of Intercultural Communication & Tourism with your creativity to present a unique journal/portfolio of your expedition in a new country.I recommend being judicious with your time.
You will have several weeks to prepare for this project so make sure you are proactive and delegate time wisely. Below you will find the requirements for this project.RequirementsThe following are requirements for the presentation component of this assignment1. Your presentation/portfolio can take many forms.
You may create a souvenir scrapbook, a photo album, a journal, a video slideshow, a poster collage, PowerPoint, or something similar.
2. You do not need to *physically appear* in your explorer’s club video. You can film the journal/slideshow, add in your voice, and upload the files. In other words, you do not need to record yourself speaking in front of a group of people.
3. If you create a PowerPoint slideshow, however, I recommend delivering your presentation before a small audience (such as your home residences, roommates, or family members). Make sure the lighting is adequate and your voice volume is clearly audible. You can print out the slideshows and hold it up to the camera/audience or you can connect your computer to a television set and show your slideshow on there.
4. Your presentation should cover all the information listed in your report (please see the rubric below).Sharing your presentation:There are a variety of ways you can share your presentation.
If you are having trouble with one of these methods, please try a different method.Option 1: Upload the video file onto Canvas (make sure it uploads completely)Option 2: Upload the video to Google Drive or YouTube, then Copy & paste the link of the URL onto Canvas. Make sure your sharings setting allow others to view your video! If uploading video onto YouTube, make sure your video is “unlisted” or “public.” If uploading video onto Google, make sure “Anyone with the link” is able to view your video.Option 3: Record the video on Canvas by using the built-in record video tool.
