Please answer to the following DQ’s with 100-150 words each. Nicole:Translational research defined is the fostering of multidirectional and multidisciplinary integration of basic research, patient-oriented research, and population based research with the goal of improving the publics health (Rubio et al, 2010). The first area of translational research is applying discoveries found during the research process.
These discoveries made in the lab or in preclinical studies are then applied to the development of trials and studies in humans (Rubio et al, 2010). The second area of translation encompasses the research with is aimed at enhancing the adoption of best practices in the community (Rubio et al, 2010). An important aspect of this process is cost-effectiveness of prevention and treatment strategies.
Translational research is part of multidirectional continuum, the research is moved from the researcher’s bench to the patient’s bedside and community (Rubio et al, 2010). T1 transfers knowledge from basic research to clinical research and T2 is the transfer of findings from clinical studies to the practice setting and communities (Rubio et al, 2010). The goal is to improve health.
Evidenced base practice is a problem solving approach to clinical practice which incorporates the best evidence devired from well-designed studies, patient values & preferences, and clinical expertise in making decision about a patients care (n.a., 2021). EBP is rated and hierarchies of evidence that grade both quality and strength of the EBP which are generated form research studies and reports.
Translational research differs from evidenced bases practice. EBP is the application of evidence in practice and translational research, translational science, is the study of implementation interventions, factors, and contextual variables that affect knowledge uptake and use in practices and communities (Titler, 2014).The application to public health management is by way of using breakthroughs in science to improve public health.

In other words, translational research bridges the gap between research in the laboratory and the application of this research to the patient and translates these results to the healthcare community as strategies to improve outcomes.
Translational research puts theory into practice in a variety of settings (Zoellner, VanHorn, Gleason, & Boushey, 2015). As a Clinical Nurse Leader, using translational research in practice is accomplished through effectively championing team members in translating research findings into strategies for implementation of evidence-based practice (EBP). Learning how to translate the implementation data produced from an EBP research project, developing a strategy for improvement and applying and evaluating these strategies help lead to better patient outcomes (Curtis, Fry, Shaban, & Considine, 2016).References:Curtis, K., Fry, M., Shaban, R. The question applies to an individual patient or group of patients in relation to an issue or diagnosis.
The question is in a PICO format; P is for population or problem, I is for intervention, C is for comparison and O for outcome (DeNisco, 2021). The nurse will consider the strength and quality of the evidence and from the evidence form recommendations for treatment (DeNisco, 2021).Translational research seeks to take knowledge and apply that knowledge into interventions that improve outcomes.
This is a formal study of the process to turn knowledge into practical application that becomes a cycle of research, knowledge, and application. Research produces new information and new technology, new processes that will be used to update guidelines, interventions for clinical practice (cdc.gov, 2021). There are different stages of Translational Research that include, 1) Identification of an opportunity for improvement, 2) health application, 3) evidence-based guidelines, 4) implementation, and 5) health outcomes (Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute, 2021).
Today, research is focused on health services and population. Federal government Medicare payment model is value based. This new model, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) is meant to improve the health of populations and the development of infrastructure to support it (DeNisco, 2021)Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute.
