Classmate 1 Chris: The nurse Jan Klein was the character I portrayed in the study simulation exercise. Overworked nurse Jan Klein was a constant source of stress for everyone involved in the simulation. The nurse tried to take control of as much of the situation as she could, but she was unable to do so because of a lack of staff. When my character became overwhelmed and realized she had lost control of the situation, I loved that she confided in her supervisor. This showed that she was aware of her own limitations and understood that continuing to work alone would be harmful to her health. However, I believe the nurse should have discussed her feelings of stress and anxiety with her supervisor sooner. To avoid patients becoming frustrated, the nurse might have been better able to control her stress if she had discussed it earlier. In addition, I would speak to Dr. Sowers first to see if he could help with my issues and stress before approaching a higher-up. It’s possible that the PI is suspicious of the nurse since she talked over his head.
When it came to teamwork and communication, Nurse Jan Klein and her coworker were at odds. In order to assist patients, get the services and treatment they need, patient care teams must work together. Nurse Klein should have sought assistance from her coworker and mentioned that she was feeling overwhelmed in this situation.
Healthcare requires honesty, trust, accountability, and leadership (Akbiyik et al., 2020). As a nurse, you must observe strict ethical guidelines in order to provide the best care for your patients. Through the film, I learned how critical it is to have a cohesive team that is honest in order to give the best possible treatment for the patients.

Classmate 2 Doris: In this research stimulation, I played the role of Jan Klein, R.N. Jan Klein is the clinical research coordinator in this video scenario. Her role is to familiarize herself with the purpose of the study and follow all protocols related to the study. As a clinical coordinator, you should ensure that all staff members involved in the study have proper training. This stimulation experience is very educational it prepares you for real-life scenarios and teaches you how to handle certain situations in the workplace. According to Lawrence et al., (2018), a study found that clinical experiences and didactic instruction resulted in higher numbers of valuable experiences for nurses. In this simulation activity, I chose the best answers to my knowledge. In my role as a clinical coordinator, I am an advocate for my patients and my responsibility is to ensure that my patients fully understand the study they will be attending. At the beginning of this study, protocols were not being followed correctly and certain decisions made by staff members caused problems for the hospital and some staff members lost their jobs. If I did not feel comfortable or agree with decisions made by a physician like in this scenario, I would contact my supervisor and inform her about the situation. Talking to your supervisor would be the best option and the right thing to do when placed in a situation like this. I would follow all protocols needed to avoid any mishaps. Not following protocols can lead you to lose your job or your nursing license. The resources that I would use for guidance would be the following: I would familiarize myself with the guidelines if am not fully aware of them, I would contact my supervisor if I were not comfortable with a situation or need support. If I have a lot of workloads, I will balance out my workload and delegate responsibilities when possible. No matter the situation or how bad you might think it is going it’s always important to do the right thing and follow protocols. For example, Jan was losing case study participants and was afraid to tell the doctor because he had already spoken to her about her job performance. I chose the response to tell him because no matter how bad the situation may seem, it is important, to be honest, and do the right thing. It was vital that she did the right thing because shortly after they were audited, they passed the audit with no problems. A year later, Jan notices falsifications in the study. I chose the option to report my concern. Following ethical principles in research is important as there are seven of them. According to Anon (2017), there are seven guiding principles that all should follow in accordance with ethical research. They include the following: scientific validity, informed consent, social and clinical value, fair subject selection, respect for potential and enrolled subjects, independent review, and the favorable risk-benefit ratio (Anon, 2017). I learned that it is important to do the right thing for the safety of subjects and the integrity of research.
