Hi, you had wrote this paper for me back in April, and I would like to have it revised as well as add on 500 more words. The order number for the original paper was 82540825. Also, please add some material from the book [ Bear v. Shark Chris Bachelder ISBN-10: 0743219473 ] *Can be found on https://www.scribd.com I do not have the book. Final Paper: “Liv-ving in a Digital World” (Ha! Who gets the Madonna reference? Btw: you CANT use this as your title, it’s mine!) This final writing project will engage with two primary tasks: Revision of the Postman Update paper Incorporation of material/ideas from Bear v Shark, plus related academic scholarship (ie. peer-review academic article) REVISION ASPECTS: -ALL comments on your Postman Update must be responded to in the Final Paper. The HW, REVISION and Structure_Outline Codes documents in Modules will provide all Codes used on the original essay submissions. It is especially crucial that you review ALL the explanations in the Structure_Outline document, as they will be essential elements in the grading of the Final Paper. This assignment also includes appropriate revision of the OUTLINE (please SINGLE SPACE the Outline, ONLY); it is also useful (and advisable), for oversight of the outline, to use FRAGMENTS of the complete quotes that will appear in the essay–just enough so you know what the quote is about, in the outline (WITH correct in-text citation). You should be able to read through an Outline for an essay of this length fairly quickly (2pgs max.) and be able to clearly follow the transitions between main ideas, as well as see all the supporting evidence (cited in-text) incorporated into the Outline. Final Note: it is very beneficial to return to and re-read the original assignment, both to understand/remember what the original Prompt was, as well as revisit all the helpful instructions regarding Outline, Citation, etc. -Make sure the title of your paper reflects its content/Thesis -Perhaps the biggest issue that the class struggled with was providing adequate and efficient specific, cited examples (as required in the assignment instructions, aka Prompt) in support of the central ideas of your essays. Many of the peer-reviewed articles added relevant and interesting analysis to your and Postman’s concepts, but specific CITED examples were necessary as evidence to prove the validity of the ideas presented. For example, if a peer-reviewed article discussed deleterious effect of internet surfing on attention span (a crucial concept), to go with Postman’s idea of peek-a-boo media…that’s a great connection. However, both are just ideas; those of you who took it to the next level of, say, citing a news story that was surrounded and interrupted by ads and celebrity gossip links… well, that specific example (citing, of course, CNN, author, etc.) presents very compelling evidence for the aforementioned concepts. Those of you who have instructor comments asking for ‘specific, cited examples’ MUST incorporate them into your Final Paper for full credit. A key here was understanding how many sources should have been in your Works Cited page, which should have been, at least: Postman+peer-review+2specific, CITED examples = 4! Make sure you get this straight for the Final Paper (the number will change). In general, when understanding a writing prompt, it is crucial to identify the number of tasks that are required, as well as the number of sources that should be cited. -Other than the important aspects mentioned above, MLA in-text citation of all sources/quotes remains a skill-set and knowledge base that a significant portion of students still need to master. Your go-to reference is the OWL link provided in the Syllabus. Of course, this paper must also include correct revision of all matters pertaining to Citation/Works Cited and correct formatting. -Be sure to review “Note on Papers” in the Syllabus in order to efficiently include all formatting aspects. PROMPT for the Final Paper: Revise your Postman Update paper according to the comments you received. Simultaneously, connect your existing discussion about Postman (and your academic article) to TWO themes/ideas (supported by text evidence, of course) from Bear v. Shark. Also, research another peer-reviewed article related to your BvS themes/ideas. Your connection between the two books and the academic articles that you use DOES NOT need to all fit super-closely into the same topic—you are creating connections and describing relationships between these sources (AND you have TWO themes/ideas to work with). The overall, unifying lens/(concept) is a big one, introduced by Postman in AOTD: various media affect not only the content of the messages they carry, but also the society and culture that they operate in. Think of all the different effects and media that BvS is involved with—it’s basically all media all the time, with endless effects on the Normans and the society around them. Entertainment, spectacle, sport, family, childhood development, sexual themes, commercialism, etc. etc. (everything that Bachelder’s tale takes us through, as readers) is all fair game and (as some of you have pointed out) is explicitly connected to many of the central ideas from AOTD (did you notice some of the keywords and titles from Postman in BvS?). Just like you related Postman to our world today, you are essentially doing that with BvS; only, instead of finding examples to support from the real world, …you are using the novel’s examples and connecting them to your ideas about media and culture from the Postman Update, AND the new peer-reviewed article that you will be incorporating. All the topics listed above (‘Entertainment’, etc.) are good search terms and a place to start, as you research the new peer-reviewed article for your Final Paper. When you integrate these elements you will end up with a comprehensive and well-informed media study of contemporary society, drawing on academic expertise (Postman and the peer-reviewed articles), artistic reflection (BvS), and connections to our world today… something to be proud of! 2000 words [including quotes, but NOT including Outline/Works Cited–failure to stick to the wordcount parameters required for this class (+50/-10) will result in points deducted]
