Argument Essay regarding themes from Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and how they are reflected in current society (6-8 pages, 2,000 words) Sources: SIX (at least one will be scholarly (Links to an external site.)) You may select six (or more) outside sources if you are unable to use any of our course readings, but at least one source must be scholarly.
Step One: You will select a theme from the Metamorphosis Themes document. You will not mention the story at all in your essay. Instead, you will focus on narrowing one theme and applying it to society.
Step Two: You will Narrowing a Topic and Creating a Research Question video directions (same as from the previous essay) to narrow your broad topic and create a research question.
Step Three: You will use course readings and/or scholarly sources to find information regarding your research question.
Step Four: Create your formal research outline. Here is an example of an excellent research outline (Links to an external site.) for your reference. Please be sure to follow the instructions on the research outline video above. Be sure that your formal research outline contains your external evidence, properly cited, and a works cited section. The essay should contain: An introductory paragraph with a thesis statement and three, four, or five supporting details; Two or three body paragraphs for each of the supporting details from the thesis statement (as shown in the research outline video above) that address the supporting details with specific evidence from appropriate resources as explained in the instructions above, using the MEAL
Plan A counterargument paragraph (alternatively, you could address the counterargument in each body section) A conclusion paragraph or two that summarizes the thesis statement and mentions the supporting details, along with a call to action that wraps up the main theme of the essay. The essay will be evaluated in terms of unity, support, coherence, and sentence skills. Use 8th edition MLA formatting to cite your sources both in-text and in the works cited list.
