Instructions
For the second part, the questions are short answer and one longer essay question. Please read the instructions for each question and use course sources to inform your answer. Do not forget to use APA in text citations in your responses (Last name, year).
I Will upload the readings for the answers, and This is the book from the class.

Question 1 (13) Longer Essay Question
We all have an identity that has been represented here in this course. We have learned that indeed we are all Americans (or living in America), yet our identities beyond being an American are drastically different as are our histories and how we are represented by the media, in society, or in politics. For this final exam, please expand upon your identity as an American _____________ and examine this group’s identity from multiple lenses.

For example, I am an American gay white man. I could go back into history, from the articles, videos, music, etc. shared in the class, and trace how gay people have been treated since 1492 when the ‘first’ European colonizers arrived to this land they called America. I would also want to look at how gay men were treated politically/legally as well as in society, depicted in culture, and represented in media and pop culture. Then I could also compare how myself as a white gay man has a different historicity and collective experience (Links to an external site.) than gay black men. As you can see, I share the same history of other Americans operating under the same Constitution and look up to the same forefathers and mothers as everyone else; however, the nuances of my history, my social standing, cultural experience, and media representation is quite different than a heterosexual white man.

In order to complete this final, please go back to the modules and the course texts and media to answer the prompt. You can use outside sources but keep most of the references within the course information. I will upload Module 8 Notetaking assignment for the sources.
Guidelines:
• around 300 words
• use at least 3 course sources to inform your response
• MLA in-text citations
• be interdisciplinary in your approach

Question 2 (14)
What were 3 of the main reasons the United States declared independence from England, as stated in the Declaration of Independence? Explain each of the 3 reasons that you mention in its historical context. In what ways has the modern-day United States become the same as its British oppressors from the 18th century? In what ways are they different?

Question 3 (15)
What is the American Dream? Since the term was coined in the late 1800s, how has the idea of the American Dream changed? And is the American Dream today as accessible as it has been in the past? Support your reasoning with course sources. Please read module 14 Notetaking assignment I will Upload this file separately.

Question 4 (16)
John Winthrop in his famous address A Model of Christian Charity uses the image of a CITY ON A HILL throughout his sermon. Many other orators and writers have referenced this concept as well. What does the CITY ON A HILL notion mean? In your opinion, is the United States still a ‘city on a hill’? Please use course sources to inform your response. Please read Module 4: Note-taking Assignment for this answer I will uploaded separately. Also here is the link for the city an a hill article John Winthrop’s “City on a Hill”

Question 5 (17)
