You will need to reach out to a Criminal Justice Professional who works on sex crimes as part of their professional role. This could be a police officer, detective, prosecutor, victim/witness coordinator, victim advocate, correctional worker, therapist who treats either victims or offenders.
You will be required to spend approximately 15 – 20 minutes with the professional you are interviewing and please keep notes of your conversation for the essay assignment. This will be your final class project, so you will have plenty of time to identify and contact the CJ professional of your choice.
Prior to meeting with your CJ professional, you are expected to do some research into the agency they work with or the type of work they do and develop a list of 5-10 questions to ask them related to the course content.
You are required to include the following:
Name of the professional and their agency (how long have they been in this line of work, schooling, why did they chose this as their career path).
List of the questions you designed and asked.
What did you learn from this interview?
What were your top 3 takeaways from the interview?
Were you suprised by anything you learned in the interview?
How is this person contributing to a community that holds offenders accountable, provides justice for victims, and enhances community safety?
