Many people claim to be unable to appreciate art but love Impressionist painters. What are some reasons why you think Impressionism is so appealing?

One clear way to answer this week’s discussion question is by comparison to other art styles (either current or from the past). Pick a second art style to compare with Impressionism, especially one that perhaps you do not like or do not understand. By seeing what you do not like, it might be easier to answer why Impressionism is appealing. Using specific paintings as your examples will help you.
But do not use Van Gogh as an example of Impressionism. He was not an Impressionist. Van Gogh learned from the Impressionists and is classified as a Post-Impressionist painter.
